i bought a 1050 Barry Grant Alky Dominator Carb and i know NOTHING about carbs at all ( I allways run injection)... I had it up at the grove today and my first pass was a 9.63 at 139mph (very slow) with a lil 850 carb i was going 9.40's. any way the 2nd pass it went 9.57 at 140mph still slow but very unconsitant.... there was no temp build i left a 180 and went through the traps at the same temp... but the car poped like 4 times going down the track... no temp means it is fat but the popping means it lean right?
ok ill give some spect's jettin in carb is 160 front and 164 the back. The carb has bowl exstention's front and back.. aswell as jet exstentions (onley in back)... car spects 69 Camaro 3100lbs with a 461 alum rod motor w/bb2 xtra heads.. in my head the jets sound low b/c my old nickerson carb had 177 to 185 jets.... Any Help would be great thanks Bob Murphy Jr |

hi bob jr my name is joe gilliam i now you and your dad real well the thing i would do is check my pump pressure all the way down track to make sure your seeing at lest 11 lbs at all times also if your running an elec. pump make sure you see 8 3/4 lb at idle and your jetting is to lean i would be in the 180 range front and back b/g carbs are desinged to drink alot of alky do you have the blk metering blocks if you do the metering in those blocks are great and remeber the thing to think about is volume not pressure a good pump is worth its weight in gold also b/g belt pump is what they recomended for my dragster set up and it worked flawlessly let me know how you make out with you new motor see you at atco joe g
