Where They Stand...Breaking Down the Huntsville Engine "KOC" Jr. Dragster 10-12 and 13-17 Classes. Allen Has Strangle Hold on 10-12 Championship and Tritt, Fieramusca, Johnson and Hidalgo Eyeing 13-17 Championship.
A few years back Gaylon Rolison of the Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Series once read a quote out of a racing magazine. The quote was from legendary racer Brian Folk and the quote was,"Turning on the win light turns on a light inside your heart". Well Jr. Dragster Racer Brandan Allen of Poplarville, MS has taken that quote to heart as he is in the prime postion to capture the "KOC" Jr. Dragster 10-12 Championship. Allen has taken the class by storm as he has WON four straight "KOC" races and WON five of the last six events on the '09 racing campaign. "It is simply amazing to watch Brandan grow as a racer. When he is in the staging lanes he just has that top level of confidence beaming from him.", Gaylon Rolison explained. Brandan has a 13 point lead over second place Jr. dragster racer and former "KOC" Jr. Dragster Champion Codie Nye of Madisonviile, LA. If Brandan slips ups Nye has the tools to put together a string of wins to make the points race interesting. "Nye simply knows how to race.", Rolison stated. Nye is all knotted up for that second postion after 5 of 7 "KOC" Events with former "KOC" 8 & 9 Jr. Dragster Champion Blaine Stewart of Angie, LA. Blaine like Nye has the ability to go on a run to give Allen a "run" for the title.

Rounding out the Top 5 are Saleena Baily of Marrero, LA who occupies the 3rd spot one round behind Nye and Stewart. The fourth spot is Hannah Bailey, sister of Saleena, with 15 points and Trent Evans of Belle Chase, LA holds the fifth spot with 13 points.
The"KOC" Jr. Dragster 13-17 chase has three veteran racers that have been competing on the "KOC" Series for a number of years. The first of which is Back to Back 13-17 "KOC" Champion Timmy Fieramusca from around New Orleans, LA. This year Fieramusca finds himself looking up the ladder at current points leader Alex Tritt of Picayune, MS as Fieramusca has tallied 29 points thus far. Tritt holds the slim one point lead over Fieramusca as the points battle hits the home stretch. Tritt a multi-time winner on the "KOC" Series took over the top spot at the June "KOC" Event. Not only has Tritt experienced success on the "KOC" series, he has taken home Jr. Dragster WINS from Texas all the way to Brisol, TN.

Also lurking in the distance in Kristen Johnson of Brandon, MS who holds the number three spot in the points chase with 26 points which puts her four points behind Tritt and three behind Fieramusca. "Kristen has really improved as a racer. She struggled her first year on the KOC Series but over the years her experience is starting to pay off as she has put herself in position to claim a championship", Rolison explained. "You can not replace seat time, you just can't", Rolison added.

The fourth spot in the points chase is held by Joseph Hidalgo III of Westwego, LA. Hidalgo has accumulated 25 points on the year. If the Hidalgo name sounds familiar, it should. Hidalgo won the "KOC" Jr. Dragster 10-12 Championship in 2008 and has stepped up to the 13-17 ranks in fine fashion. "I really thought there would be a learning curve for Joseph stepping up to the 13-17 class, but I was wrong. That kid can race.", Rolison said. Hidalgo almost won the championship in 2006 but fell a single round short of the feat.
The Top 5 rounds out with former "KOC" Champion Destin Bailey of Marrero, LA with 20 points. Todd Bargeron of Picayune, MS, Josh Doucet of Pass Christian, MS, Weslee Wright and Brittany Kizzar both of Laurel, MS and Ali White of Springfield, LA round out the Top 10.
The Staff of the Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Series wished the best of luck to the fine young racers.

Coming Saturday. Where they Stand Breaking Down the Huntsville Engine "KOC" Pro Footbrake Class.
