The 2009 Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Bracket Series Finale THIS WEEKEND!!!!! Hearts Will be Broken as Others Will Jump for Joy as "KOC" 2009 Champions.
The Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Bracket Series Returns to Gulfport Dragway for the final chapter on the 2009 campaign THIS Weekend Nov. 7 & 8 as the "KOC" will crown the 2009 Points Champions. With a great weather forecast showing virtually no rain for the weekend, tons of racing will go down on the hallowed grounds of Gulfport Dragway in Gulfport, MS. "The final event on the KOC Series is always a special one. With the points championships on the line, racers will be competing for a spot in one of the most prestigious categories along the Gulf Coast as Huntsville Engine "KOC" Champions," Gaylon Rolison of the KOC Series explained. Timmy Fieramusca Kenner, LA will try to pull off the unthinkable as Fieramusca will attempt to become the first KOC racer to 3-Peat as KOC Champion. Fieramusca (2007 & 2008 Champion) competes in the Jr. Dragster 13-17 class will have to earn the title in 2009 as a host of racers have other plans in store for Fieramusca. One of those racers is Alex Tritt of Picayune, MS. Tritt trails Fieramusca by only a single point as Tritt and Fieramusca have wrestled the top spot from each other during the 2009 campaign all season long. Brandon, MS native Kristen Johnson is looking up to the top spot trialing Fieramusca by three points (rounds). "With a weekend of racing usually netting a racer a possible 10-12 points in the Jr. 13-17 class, Johnson has plenty of room to sneak in and take the crown and very well has the ability to do it," Rolison stated. Reigning Jr. Dragster 10-12 Champion Joe Hidalgo III of Westwego, LA and former KOC Jr.Dragster 2007 10-12 Champion Destin "Iceman" Bailey are also in the hunt for the crown. The Jr. Dragster 8&9 Championship is as nearly as "tight" as the Jr. 13-17 Class. Three racers are in contention for the title which include reigning Champion Jackson Core of Crowley, LA. Core "ran away" with 2008 championship but the 2009 championship is a different story. Core finds himself holding the 2nd spot looking up the ladder to KOC newcomer Landon Neely of Florence, MS. Neely holds a two round lead over Core and a five round lead over Trevor Palmisano of Belle Chase, LA. "I wish all three kids could win the deal as they have tried all season long to put forth their best effort. Unfortunately that can not happen. All three are champions in my book," Rolison commented. The Jr. Dragster 10-12 Championship is a different story. Brandan Allen of Poplarville, MS holds a 8 point lead over former KOC Champion Codie Nye of Madisonville, LA. Brandon took command of the points lead in the middle of the season rattling off four consecutive Jr. Dragster WINS. "It's not over till it's over and Codie has the skills win both days if Brandan slips up," Rolison stated. The Pro Electronics portion of the KOC Series has three main components-Joe Boone of Hattiesburg, MS, Bubba Stephenson of Bastrp, LA and Reiginng KOC Pro Electronics Champions David Reynolds of Petal, MS. Boone holds the top spot with 40 net points. Stephenson is three rounds out and Reynolds four rounds out. "Usually a weekend of racing in the KOC Pro Electronics category can usually net a racer as much as 20 points if he/she runs the table both days. So really anyone within 10 rounds of the lead has a realistic chance to win the deal. Trampus Stewart of Angie, LA, Gene Tanner of Lucedale, MS, James Page of Slidell, MS, Russ Ford of Petal, MS, Daniel Rolison of Ocean Springs, MS, David Hammons of Long Beach, MS and Kevin Berry of Raymond, MS are in the range. The conclusion is...I really have no idea who will win the title as all these guys can pull it off," Rolison explained. The Pro Footbrake Championship has two main players in contention. Mike Barnett of Columbia, MS and Scott Taylor of Petal, MS. Barnett has a three round net lead over Taylor. "Both Mike and Scott are two of the most feared footbrakers on the Gulf Coast. Both of them can flat out get in done. If I know Scott, he will try his best to run down Mike but has little room for error,' Rolison stated. Two time KOC Champion Reid Mocherman holds down the three spot in the points chase with 33 net points and missed the first two races of the season. Reid trails Barnett by eight rounds of racing. "The entire KOC Staff, Jim (Griffiths), Jennifer (Rolison), Star (Mitchell) and Matthew (Moore) and myself as well as all the sponsors of the KOC wish the best of luck to all the racers vieing for the Championships. The Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Bracket Series is never short to recognize Series Title Sponsor Huntsville Engine & Performance Center. Associate Sponsors J-Mark Race Cars, BTE, Rolison's Firestone of Saucier, MS, Figspeed.com, and Nitro-Plate for their support of the grass roots drag racer. The first KOC Event of 2010 will be Feb. 20 & 21 at Gulfport Dragway in Gulfport, MS. 2010 KOC Schedule Event 1-Feb 20 & 21 Event 2-Mar 6 & 7 Event 3-April 10 & 11 Event 4-May 1 & 2 Event 5-June 12 & 13 Event 6-August 21 & 22 Event 7-September 18 & 19 Event 8-November 6 & 7 |
