Where They Stand...Breaking Down the Huntsville Engine "KOC" Pro Electronics Class. Reynolds Vies For Back to Back for "KOC" Championships....Boone, Stewart and Host of Others Say, "Not On My Watch"!!!!

There is a qoute in sports that is used often for coaches to motivate his/her team after a championship season. It goes like this. It is hard to get to the top; it is harder to stay there. Well that is the task at hand for the 2008 Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Bracket Series Pro Electronics Champions David Reynolds of Petal, MS. Reynolds won the '08 Championship by a single point over Wyatt Ezell of Ventress, LA and by the way things are falling, he may be in the same situation this year as he shares the top spot with not one but two other races with a host of others nipping at the heals.

The first of which is 2nd generation driver Trampus Stewart of Angie, LA and and the second is another 2nd generation driver Joseph Bonne of Hattiesburg, MS. Stewart known to show up big and big money races over the years will try to squeeze out the championship and become the 2nd "KOC" Champion in the household as his son Blaine WON the 2007 "KOC" Jr. Dragster 8 & 9 Championship. Also of note Trampus' father Aubrey Stewart is Top 5 finisher on the "KOC" Series.

Joseph Boone pilots the popular Sundance Camaro that runs in the 5.60's-5.80's has taken full advantage of being able to race more often as it has shown signs of brilliance. "Everytime we call for fouth of fifth round, here comes that silver camaro usually one of the first to the lanes. That is one thing I admire about Joe he does not care who he runs. He is one of the first cars up there and whoever he races thats fine with him.," Gaylon Rolison of the "KOC" Series commented. To go along with all of those late round finishes, Joe has a "KOC" WIN under his belt at the "KOC" Event 4 back in April.

Stewert who races a Danny Nelson Slip Joint Dragster put himself at the top of the "KOC" heap with a 14 point performance at the 'KOC" Event 4. Stewart raced his race to the $5,000.00 Final on Saturday and to the Semi-Finals on Sunday. "Trampus was laying down great run after great run that weekend. It was impressive," Rolison commented. "Trampus is no stranger to big money WINS.," Rolison concluded.

Bubbba Stephenson of Bastrop, LA holds the second spot in points with a total 31 that puts him 3 behind Reynolds, Boone & Stewart as he missed Event 3 back in April. Stephenson who has numerous WINS on the "KOC" tour WON the season opener at the Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Bracket Bash back in February as he padded his wallet with the $5,000.00 WIN. Stephenson also took another $5,000.00 WIN at the "KOC" Event 2 in March over David Reynolds. "It is very possible that the final round back in March between David and Bubba could have a big impact in the points chase.," Rolison pointed out.

Daniel Rolison of Saucier, MS occupies the third spot in the chase. Rolison pilots a 2005 Danny Nelson Slip Joint Dragster. Over the last two "KOC" Events (3 & 4), Rolison has put up 21 points on the board which is the highest amount of all the "KOC" racers in that time span. "He definately has the tools to win the whole deal.," Rolison stated.

Veteran bracket racer and Long Beach, MS native David Hammons holds down the forth spot in the points chase piloting the Hurricane Racing doorslammer. Hammons is no stranger to Gulfport Dragway where the "KOC" is based as Hammons has probably made more passes down the historic track than any racer on the "KOC" Series. "David is one of those racers that sneaks up on you. Your in the staging lanes waiting for sixth round and wodering who we are missing and David comes strolling to the lanes and you hope he does not pull down on you," Rolison explained.

The fourth spot also houses Kevin Berry with 29 points from around Jackson, MS who has been to a "KOC" final in 2009. Berry is in the mist of a car change during the year going from a corvette to dragster but it seems not to have bothered him at all. Berry is a second generation driver under his father Anthony Berry who has won his share of races. "Kevin is a real down to earth kind of guy. He shows up to the track to give his best effort and cards will fall where they fall," Rolison explained. "He is pretty darn good racer too," Rolison concluded.

Also holding the forth spot is James Page of Slidell, LA in his '68 Page Motorsports Camaro. Page a former Pro Footbrake Champion from the "MS State Bracket Championships held at Hub City Dragway in 2005. Page has number of wins in career. "If my life were on the line and I had to pick the Semi-Finalists of a race, James Page would be on my list. He consistently goes rounds weekend in weekend out.," Rolison explained.

The Huntsville "KOC" Series Pro Electronics Top 10 is rounded out by the following racers:

5) Logan Sullivan- Mt. Olive, MS- 27 Points

6) Russ Ford of Petal, MS and Charlie Coats of Laurel, MS- 26 Points

7) Herschel Slade of Purvis, MS Mike Buchwald of Steens, MS, Richard Tanner of Lucedale, MS- 25 Points

8) G.O. Fennell of Long Beach, MS- 23 Points

9) Kelly Cooley of Picayune, MS- 19 Points

10) Dwight Burnett of Brandon, MS and David Aycock of Long Beach, MS- 18 Points

The staff of the Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Bracket Series wishes all the best luck to be above racers in the chase for the "KOC" Pro Electronics Championship.
