Bogacki and Douglas Dominate, Collier, Collier, and Wade also score at DragRaceResults.com / Goodyear Rattlesnake Nationals.
Luke Bogacki entered last weekends Rattlesnake Bracket Nationals at Abilene Dragway holding the DragRaceResults.com/Goodyear Bracket Series national points lead in both CSR Super Pro and Sportsman. While Bogacki has led both classes since the opening event of the 2007 season, his lead, particularly in CSR Super Pro, was dwindling as several competitors came into the event within striking distance. Bogacki made the tow from his Woodville, AL home and used a brilliant weekend performance that included a whopping five final round appearances to bolster his title hopes, sending a strong message to the remainder of the field that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the championship chase. In Saturday's CSR Super Pro class, Bogacki drove his CSR Performance Products backed American Race Cars dragster to the event win and runner-up, achieving the rare feat of putting both of his entries into the final round. The win padded Bogacki's season points total, pushing it to 41 points thru six events. Jeremy Hefler and Michael Johnston were the semi-finalists, while Daniel Gossett, Daniel Gossett, Joe Collier, and Steve Collier went out in the quarterfinals. The Barker Trailer Sales/Pace American Run-For-The-Trailer victory in CSR Super Pro went to Jim Calloway of Artesia, NM. In addition to his Super Pro triumph, Bogacki also drove his Mickey Thompson Tires backed Vega to a final round appearance in the Sportsman class. There, he fell by .003 to Debbie Kelly as Kelly used a .037 reaction and 7.860 on her 7.83 to defeat Bogacki's .026 induced 6.545 on a 6.50 dial. In addition to knocking off Bogacki in a close final, Kelly also defeated perennial DragRaceResults.com/Goodyear Bracket Series contenders Jeremy Hefler and Tye Casey in route to the final. James Asbill and defending DragRaceResults.com/Goodyear Bracket Series National Champion Benny Gossett were the semi-finalists, while David Sliger earned the Pace American/Barker Trailer Sales "Run for the Trailer" crown. Dustin Douglas owned the Race Tech Junior Dragster class last weekend, taking home the hardware both Saturday and Sunday. Douglas, a local competitor who hails from Abilene, knocked off Koy Collier in the Saturday final round. Ian Dunaway was the lone semi-finalist. The Race Tech "Run For the Money" title went to Drew Bracey of Lubbock, TX. Tommy Wade won the Jeg's Trophy class in a battle of multi-time Trophy finalists as he defeated Jory Weimers in the Saturday final. Joe Boaz was the winner of the Trophy class "Run for the Money". Saturday's action concluded with the running of the Moser Shootout, a sixteen car "hi-rollers" event with a huge $5,000 winners purse. This week, that money left Abilene headed East, as Benton, LA resident Steve Collier took the final round win over Luke Bogacki. The race was over on the starting line, as Bogacki made seemingly his only misstep of the day, fouling with a -.005 to Collier's stellar .002 reaction. Michael Johnston and Tye Casey were the semi-finalists. Sunday's conclusion to the Rattlesnake Bracket Nationals brought even tighter competition as racers squared off for a second day of big dollar bracket action along the DragRaceResults.com/Goodyear Bracket Series. Joe Collier took home the $5,000 victory in CSR Super Pro, as he defeated Tye Casey in the final round. Collier, at the wheel of his Mullis Race Cars built dragster, used solid reaction times throughout eliminations to wade thru the field. Casey finally ended Bogacki's torrid pace by defeating him in the semi-final round, while Collier got the best of Wendell Dunaway in the other semi-final matchup. The quarterfinalists were Jeremy Hefler, Brad Taylor, Cory Beatty, and Fred Vinson. Sunday's Pace American/Barker Trailer Sales "Run for the Trailer" winner was Mike Dechert. Luke Bogacki advanced to his fifth final round of the weekend, and earned his second victory in Sunday's Sportsman class. Bogacki, who posted no reaction time worse than .023 in eliminations, saved his best for last, nailing a .004 reaction opposite Sambo Tyra's .020 in the final round. Bogacki held on for the win, despite an off-pace 6.45 ET on his 6.37 dial when Tyra broke out with a 7.274 on his 7.28 target. Jory Wiemers and Jeremy Smith were the semi-finalists while Tony Smith picked up the Pace American/Barker Trailer Sales "Run for the Trailer" title. Glenn Snow earned the Jeg's Trophy class win on Sunday with a final round victory over Michael Stultz. Stultz also claimed the Trophy class "Run for the Money" crown in his stick shift Mustang. Douglas continued his reign over the Race Tech Junior Dragster category, earning his second victory of the weekend with a win over Heath Kiser. Kiser red-lighted away his shot at victory with a -.017 reaction, while Douglas was solid: .067 and 8.961 on his 8.96 dial. In addition to his runner-up finish, Kiser also won the Race Tech Junior Dragster "Run for the Money" on Sunday. Mark Winger and Carroll Johnson picked up the MGM Specialty awards of Best Appearing Car and Best Engineered car, respectively. The DragRaceResults.com/Goodyear Bracket Series makes it's next stop at Thunder Valley Raceway Park this weekend for the Ron's Fuel Injection Oklahom Round Up. The series moves back to Division 2 for the following events at Montgomery Motorsports Park (September 22-23) and Gainesville Raceway (October 20-21) before the season ending Pro Bracket Masters Championship at Texas Raceway November 1-4.
