Hey guys ever heard of this? Helped a friend move a engine that had been in storage approx 5 yrs. Engine was running fine when we pulled it out of car and stored it. When engine put in storage he backed off rocker arms to let pressure off springs, and sealed engine with oil in pan. When uncovered engine we found that the head had popped off #1 exhaust valve. Hasn't torn engine down yet to look for any other damage. No telling what he'll find. Engine had approx 50 passes on it when stored. Had run best of 7.08 in 1/8th. Oh yes, it's a sbc.

I've been to a few county fairs, a state fair, and a goat f*&@in', but I've never heered of anything like that in my life.

Sounds impossible to me.

Keepers failed, or did it pull the center out of the retainer, or what?

Hey Goob,
Well, this is strange but true. Valve stem is in the head but head of valve is missing. Presumebly lying on top of #1 piston. You can see valve stem thru #1 exhaust port. I sware the engine was running fine when we pulled it out of car.
