I am new to footbraking , I ussually leave off a transbrake at 5000rpm , can`t get the car any higher then 2000rpm on the brake , I have only footbraked the car once like this , would I be better off just swaping to a glide ? What does everyone consider consistant 60` times , within a tenth ? or closer then that with a 2900lb car , thanks for the replies !

i would stay out of the glide area only because of the weight of the vechical what is your converter stall set at now because the trans brake don't know the stall cause you can set you rev to any limit and it will go there i need this info in order to help you pic a converter also i run a 73 camaro 2700 lbs f/b on a tight 8" con from ati trans stalling at 4500 leaving the line at 3100rpm with 138 60's with a turbo 400 hope this helps killer73camaro

Myself I consider consistant 60' times to be within one hundredth. What convertor do you have and what is stall. Seems like your convertor may be a little tight for footbraking.

Have to check the stall speed this weekend , I think it would stall somewhere around 5700rpm without the chip , Was able to get out last weekend and do a 1.40 60` on the brake and I took a look at some older timeslips , car was consistent so I think its time for some new slicks ,wish I could hold this thing a little higher on the footbrake , I have disc in the front and drum in the rear , Someone told me that I should be able to hold this thing to 3000 on a footbrake and that I should think about disc on the rear , Any opinions on that ? Thanks for the replies !

Your ability to hold with the footbrake is directly related to much stall, how loose the convertor is and how good your brakes are. I have an ATI 5000 stall convertor and can hold it at about 3200, although I don't ussually go that high. I'm not sure about the differance between disc and drum in the back. What size motor do you have big block or small block? The torque your motor makes also effects the convertor.

The motor made 551 lbs of trq on a dyno at 5500rpm , so it probably makes more then that at a lower rpm , it`s a stroked smallblock , maybe I am making a little to much power for the footbrake ? How much trq do you make with your motor ? my friend has a car with drum brakes all around and can hold his car to 2800rpm , but he is making a lot less power then me , any opinions ? thanks for the replies ! I might be able to get this thing a little higher but i am afraid that I will be pushing the brakes to hard and that will affect my reaction time ? how hard are you guy`s pushing those brake pedals ? I am new to this footbrake stuff , Thanks again !
