I know alot of racers that swear by 10 bolts. I agree with Pat DO NOT USE A MINI SPOOL. Full spool only with good axles. You may need to install a bolt on each tube to keep them from twisting in the housing. Not sure about 700hp thats alot of HP. I have an 81 camaro and took out the 10 bolt and replaced with a moser 12 bolt. Had real good luck with moser stuff.

I have a 72 Nova with a 10 bolt rear end (8.5) with a mini spool. I've ran a 6.54 @ 105. I installed the mini-spool and ring gear and pinion in 1999 and it held until the bracket finals at Rockingham in October of last year (2006)!! I've had 1.39 60ft times with the car, but I also don't have 700 hp.

Also to answer your other question, you can't use a posi unit with a mini-spool, you'll have to get a single traction unit. The posi units are tapered where as the singles are a 90 degree where the mini spool slides in.

Yes, I would use c clip eliminators. No worse feeling than seeing ur wheel come out axle and all.
