I'm building a 540ci bbc chevy. I just ordered new brodix heads through a local dealer. When I went to order the heads the man called brodix and asked the witch heads would work best and the answer given to us by brodix was bb2-plus because of port velocity. My question is why would there web site recomend bb2-xrta along with many sportsman engines built by other builders? My last question is has anybody ran these heads on a 540? They head do have the spring upgrade...
other specs on the build are
3200lb car with driver
power glide with 1.96 gear set and 4.88 gears
13.4 compression ratio and 748/751 lift w/ duartion @.050 279/288 and 7/4 swap on the firing order
belt drive
dart block
on vp 112 gas

Any input would be helpfull?

thanks

I got a 69 nova w/540. Car weighs exactly 3260#. I have the Dart pro 1 cnc heads. I am running them straight from the box. I dont know much about the brodix heads but the darts are working fine for me. I have 488 gears w/pg tranny 180 straight cut. The car runs 5.70's @ 118 in the 1/8. I run 8.90's in the 1/4 on rev limiter set at 7400. I was on rev limiter about 150' before finish line. This is all motor naturally aspirated. Hope this helps.

BIG MIKE,
They pobably told you to use the smaller runner because of the weight of your car.Peformance is not all about flow, remember you still have to start off from dead still and 1.5 tons aint that easy to move!

GOOD LUCK!
