While I am waiting for new roll bars I am working on my trailer, installing cabinets/ work bench yada yada. What should I consider when buying a winch. I assume they bolt to the middle of the floor in the front of the trailer and run off a remote 12 volt battery ? or do you use 12 volts from the pick up? How much power do I need to pull in a 225" dragster? 2500 pounds? Do you need the remote switch? I have a new 28" Exiss all aluminum trailer.
With -36 below weather up hear Drag Racing seems a long ways off Thanks RR |

1500 will work just fine. No issues if you go to some of the winch sites, warn etc, they explain the load capabilities. 1500 is the dead stall load meaning it can pull it straight up in the air I believe without issues, rolling weight on a small incline it can pull much much more. I pull my 2600lb door car in on a 1500 with no issues. Yes they are 12 volt, although I run 2 six volts for more amps.

I ordered the 2500 superwinch from Tommy Johnson with his wireless remote. It was a little more money than I wanted to spend but I couldn't be happier. I have a dragster and you can stand beside it and steer it and winch it right into place. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
Also, if you have the bigger winch then you can use it on all your friend's cars that want to borrow your trailer. LOL Good luck. vb |
