i have ladder bars on my car with stock coil springs, how much pinion angle do i need. and i have had the car on scales several times , but the car wheel hops every time, so if anyone has an idea on how to adjust the pinion angle, and the preload, please let me know....thanks

2 degrees negative is plenty, just get more than 1 degree.
Sounds like you may have the front of the bars too low for your HP level, or something is in a bind. To set the preload and pinion angle, disconnect the front of the passenger side bar, set your pinion angle with the driver side bar, then you should set the passenger side bar to where you have to pull down on the bar 1 front bolt width (diameter) to get the bolt through the link, this should have your preload real close.....if the car goes left, you have too much, if it goes right, you need more. What kind of shocks? Double adjustable bars? How many holes at the front bracket, and at what sort of angle to level are the bottom bars sitting at rest? What does the car weigh? How much HP and what sort of trans/converter/rear gear combo? Two step, transbrake, or footbrake? Tire size, and pressure you run? Hope that gets you started. hey man, thanks, i'll try what your suggesting. and to answer your questions, its a 3325 pound car, foot brake 28.5 tire size,12 pounds of air.and i started just adjusting them my self and i set the pinion on 3 degrees to start with, and i have 5 holes in the front setting, and i have comp. 3 way setting shocks, and they are set on 30/70 now, with a turbo 400, and it got about and this is a good guess to the back tires.421 hp...and this is a 383 sbc.with a 4000 stall, and i noticed after the ladder bars were installed i couldn't get any stall, now i have to leav at ideal, and the bars are paralell to the ground, and thanks for your suggestions , at this point i'll try anything......thanks

Making any progress?
Maybe the rear brakes didn't get bled out, or someone loosened them up?
I'd set the rears at 50/50.
If the car seems to need more "bite" don't be afraid to take the front up maybe 2 holes, readjust your pinion angle accordingly of course. Your converter is a little on the tight side for my taste, and footbraking, it may like more angle on the bars. "Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular" Dave Cook N375 |

WHAT DOES THE BARS HAVE TO DO WITH THE STALL?

Would a 5500 converter hit the tires harder than a 3500 converter? Does a transbrake hit the tires harder than footbraking? Your point would be? "Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular" Dave Cook N375 |
