I.R.R Crowns new Champions for 2007

Immokalee Regional Raceway wrapped up a long points season this past weekend. The final points race went off as scheduled and man was the tension high going into first round. The top 5 spots in all classes were some what close and what an interesting evening it was. Going into the first round of Combo #1 Jay Adams was hanging on to a 9 point lead with #2 Brian Boose waiting for the opportunity to strike. Well as luck had it Adams lost first round and Boose took advantage winning first round clinching the #1 spot from Adams. Boose still couldn’t relax as #3 Trevor Beard won first round and was only 28 points behind and still winning. Boose was finally able to relax as Beard in the second round went red sealing Boose’s 1st Championship. In the final round it was Steve Muller taking on Frank Corvino. Muller got the win as Corvino leaving too early (.498) turned on the red light.

In the Sportsman class it wasn’t as dramatic as Combo as Tom Booher regained the Championship title. Going into the race #1 Booher was holding a 16 point lead over Pedro Tirado but the opportunity was still possible for Tirado with a little help. No such luck as Tirado lost 1st round and sealed Booher’s Championship. In the final round it was Chris Knapp getting the win running dead on (7.50) with a .506 RT while April Roark running a 7.41 ET on a 7.40 dial with a .524 RT for runner up.

Also in a points battle was the Fast Farm Trailer Sales Quick 32. In this race it was a very close battle for the #1 spot which was being held by Mike Thompson and #2 Darius Portier right behind him and only down by 8 points and the #3 and #4 were 20 points behind him. After all was said and done Portier going out 1st round and Thompson going a few rounds in his Zeke/Wynn Enterprise sponsored 2003 Cavalier clinching the 2007 Q32 Championship. In the final round of the Q32 it was Humberto Rodriguez taking on Jason McCandless. Rodriguez got the win running a 5.11 ET on a 5.10 dial with a .528 RT while McCandless ran a 5.26 ET on a 5.27 dial with a .505 RT for runner up.

The Jr. Dragster class was also wrapping up the year and battling it out for the top 5 spots. Once again it was Nathan Gray capturing the 2007 Track Championship. #2 Seam Iemma was close but needed for Nathan to go out first but had no such luck and settled for 2nd place. In the final round it was Kayla Costello taking on Marie Muller. Costello got the win running dead on (8.90) with a .554 RT while Muller running a 9.03 ET on an 8.93 dial with a .557 RT for runner up.

Congratulations to all 2007 Track Champions, it was a great year for racing at I.R.R and we’re looking forward to 2008 season and all the big money races coming in the next few months.
