RICHARDSON BREAKS THE BANK WITH VICTORY AT TCI TWINS IN THUNDER VALLEY

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Monday, April 06, 2009)- When big money is on the line at any bracket race, Scott Richardson usually finds himself in contention. After this weekend’s $100,000-to-win TCI Twins in Thunder Valley, Richardson’s biggest problem may be trying to stuff that oversized check into the teller window at his local bank.

Richardson earned the top prize in the World Footbrake Challenge at Bristol the last two years, and now can add a win in George Howard’s TCI Twins to his resume.

The Barbourville, Ky. native drove his Race Tech dragster to victory over Stephen McCrory of Taylorsville, Ga. in the finals to earn the $100,000 payday. McCrory broke giving Richardson the easy win.

Richardson left the line with a .013 reaction time and ran a 5.071 elapsed time on a 4.83 dial-in. He flashed through the line at 109.24 mph.

Luke Bogacki, another well-known name in the world of bracket racing, picked up Saturday’s win in the Non-Electronics class.

Bogacki from Woodville, Ala. took his 1974 Vega to the Winner’s Circle by ousting the 1974 Maverick of Joe Robertson from Bloomington, Ind.

Bogacki had a .005 R.T. and ran a 6.296 E.T. (6.27 dial-in) at 103.58 mph to best Robertson’s .031 light and 6.683 E.T. (6.67 dial-in) at 101.95 mph.

With so many events to squeeze into the weekend, George Howard had to make the tough call to end racing on Sunday evening to allow racers time to return home. The Electronics division ended during Round 4, while Non-Electronics action was halted in Round 3.

With time running out on Saturday’s activities, Rogersville’s Chris Bean and Allison Eads of Bristol, Va. decided to split the Junior Dragster purse and not contest the final round.

Sunday’s Jr. Dragster final saw Kingsport’s Dylan Davis defeat Brandon Thompson of Douglasville, Ga. Davis rolled off with a .017 R.T. and ran an 8.590 E.T. (8.06 dial-in) at 67.63 mph to take home the win.

Thunder Valley remains a busy place with the Fas Mart Street Fights Series kicking off on Thursday. The DER Bracket Racing Series hosts a Test and Tune session on Friday afternoon. The first DER event of the season will be Saturday.
