SOUTH GEORGIA MOTORSPORTS PARK ANNOUNCES 5-DAY BRACKET CHAMPIONSHIPS: NOVEMBER 11-15, 2008

Cecil, GA: 2008's version of the annual Florida Winter Series will actually take many racers just north of the state line, as South Georgia Motorsports Park has announced that the state-of-the-art facility will host a 5-Day Bracket Championship event Tuesday November 11 thru Saturday November 15. In the tradition of the annual bracket series events, the South Georgia 5-Day will feature 5 days of quarter mile competition for huge bracket purses, in addition to three eighth mile events, and a weeklong points fund for both the quarter mile and eighth mile events!

A complete flyer is currently in the works, but the basis of the event is this: The daily quarter-mile main event will feature a whopping $34,000 purse each day, with $15,000 going to each days winner. Each day's runner-up will earn $5,000, while semi-finalists take $2,000 each and quarterfinalists walk away with $1,000. Payback to the eighth finalists is $400, with $200 going to the 1/16 finalists, and a free entry to the 2009 SGMP 5-day for 1/32 finalists. Daily entry to the main event is $200, and as long as there are 129 entries the quarter-mile main event will have NO buybacks (if there are 128 entries or less, there will be a first round buyback only, with a fee of $100).

In an effort to provide an attractive event for both the touring big dollar racers, and the Southeastern bracket competitors, the SGMP 5-Day will also host three daily eighth mile big dollar events (Wednesday thru Friday). These events, while paying a massive $7500 to each daily winner, will be more affordable in terms of entry fee, with a slight decrease in payout from the quarter mile event. The three-day entry for the 1/8th mile events is $250 (racers can also enter daily for $100). Like the main event, the 1/8th mile races will feature No Buybacks with 129 entries (with 128 or less, there will be a first round buyback only, at $50).

In the tradition of the annual 5-Day events, the SGMP 5-Day will feature a weeklong points purse. The main event (1/4 mile) points champion will earn $5,000, with another $5,000 being distributed between the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finishers. SGMP is adding a unique twist to the event, as an 1/8th mile points champion will also be crowned. The 3-Day 1/8th mile points champion will earn $2,500, with an additional $2,500 distributed between the 2nd thru 5th place 1/8th mile points earners. Then, the two champions will square off for a free entry to the 2009 Million Dollar Race, and the prestigious title of “King (or Queen) of the 5-Day.

The inaugural SGMP 5-Day will take place Tuesday November 11 thru Saturday November 15. This event will come on the heels of Bradenton Motorsports Park's annual 5-day Championships, which runs from November 5-9. South Georgia Motorsports Park is one of the premier quarter-mile facilities in the Southeast, and the nation; featuring a smooth all-concrete quarter-mile, paved pit area for over 200 competitors, the latest Compulink timing system, and state-of-the-art lighting and equipment. SGMP is located just off I-75 in Cecil, GA, thirty miles North of the Florida state line.

We aree extremely excited about hosting the inaugural SGMP 5-Day Bracket Championships, beamed SGMP's Tim Fleming. We are 100% committed to putting on a fun, fair, and competitive big dollar race. The payouts and facility at SGMP will meet or exceed those of most any big dollar event in the country. We wanted to go ahead and release this event and the date early in the year. We know a lot of competitors from all over make plans to attend the winter series each November, and we want to accommodate scheduling for vacation time as much as possible. It is our goal to create a racer-friendly event and atmosphere, and to establish a 5-Day bracket event that will become a must attend for racers from across the country.
