Big weekend for the Bankston Boyz

from www.adrl.us
UTICA, Miss.— Simply put, the Bankston Boyz Racing team had an unbelievable weekend at the National Guard ADRL Safety-Kleen Dragpalooza V at Houston Raceway Park.

It was the kind of weekend most teams can only dream about. But it just didn’t happen by accident.

Perhaps the most important factor in the team’s success was flawless teamwork and the strong communications between crew, consultants, and team owner Michael Bankston.

The team already had a baseline tune up they were planning to use after having tested weeks earlier so they came to Baytown with a high level of confidence.

The combination of Tim Savell’s blistering 3.99 second. 185 mph run during qualifying on Friday night, and the comparatively slower but more consistent car driven by Stan Allen (left) en route to the National Guard ADRL Pro-Nitrous win gave the team an invaluable morale boost as the new season begins.

Savell and Allen were quick to point out that without the help of Brad Morgan of Reher-Morrison stepping in to assist in tuning Savell’s “Blue Beast” to the team’s first 3-second run, along with the talents of Mark Niebes, formerly with Billy Harper and Dennis Radford, the weekend’s outcome would have been very different.

“We were just trying to find some consistency and not make mistakes,” said Allen following his winning run. “We knew eventually that if we could get the clutch to work like we wanted it to, the track would come to us.

In the final, against two-time national event winner Jim Halsey, Allen gave up a slight starting line advantage, but when Halsey lost traction, Allen drove past him to take the win light with a 4.134 – 168.81 to Halsey’s losing 4.203 – 149.18.

Their weekend at Baytown put both Allen and Savell solidly in the top 10 in Pro Nitrous points.

The Bankston Boyz want to thank all of their supporters, including Mississippi Foundation Repair Specialists and Level Home dot com, for their support.
